At least 18 people were killed and over 15 others injured when the tipper truck carrying Dusshera revellers was returning home overturned at Dasamantapur in Orissa’s Koraput district on Friday.
The mishap occurred this morning near the block headquarters town of Dasmantpur when the victims were returning home after celebrating the Dussehra festival in a nearby village.
The victims, including women and children were crushed beneath the truck after it overturned. While 14 persons died on the spot, four of the seriously injured died in the hospital.
Other injured victims are being treated at the district headquarters.
The victims belonged to Bedhapadar, Mangalaguda, Bangaguda and Sembitotaguda under Dasamantapur police station.
