Hundreds of people had been evacuated from their properties and companies in a Manchester suburb whereas a bomb squad and police investigated a suspicious bundle. 

Greater Manchester Police have since given the all-clear and mentioned there may be ‘no danger to the general public’. 

Several main roads had been cordoned off within the Hazel Grove space of Stockport after police responded to calls of a suspicious bundle at a property at 4.15pm. 

The cordon will now be eliminated and residents will probably be free to return to their properties.  

The A6 London Road was closed from the Wilfred Wood to Torkington Road, whereas Chester Road was closed by American Golf.

Queues are mentioned to be constructing again to Great Moor with Commercial Road, Hazelwood Road and A523 Macclesfield Road all congested.

One man who works at Lynx Taxis on London Road, mentioned he was evacuated from his constructing at round 5.30pm.

He mentioned: ‘We noticed a number of police vehicles all of a sudden racing down the A6. I went exterior to take a look and there have been people all over the place. Police had been ushering people away.

‘It was actually chaotic and there have been tons of people round being pushed again by police.

Greater Manchester Police have since given the all-clear and mentioned there may be ‘no danger to the general public’ 

‘They mentioned there was a 100m cordon in place. This was about 5.30pm.

‘Police informed us we wanted to evacuate our constructing.

‘We waited for about 10 to fifteen minutes on the cordon and then my supervisor informed me to go residence.

‘I noticed six fireplace engines ready within the Sainsbury’s automotive park and in all probability about 20 police autos.

‘You might inform one thing severe was happening.’

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police mentioned: ‘Police are at present responding to an incident in Hazel Grove.

‘At round 4.15pm at this time (Thursday 10 September), police had been referred to as to experiences {that a} suspicious merchandise had been discovered at a property on Chester Road, Hazel Grove.

‘Officers are in attendance and enquiries and ongoing. A cordon stays in place and these within the neighborhood have been evacuated as a precaution.’

They have since up to date the general public by saying: ‘The incident in Hazel Grove in #Stockport has now ended and the cordon will probably be lifted shortly. 

‘Following intensive enquiries, officers have established that there isn’t a danger to the general public. Thank you on your persistence while we responded.’
